Currents

It seems I always take these long unplanned hiatuses(is this a word?) and leave this place abandoned and all sad. I have this little black book-no not that kind of black book ๐Ÿ˜‚๐Ÿ˜‚, where I write all the plans I have for my blog. I get an idea for a post and I brainstorm in my little book. The problem then comes when I have to actually get the posts out which is a mission because ny perfectionist nature makes me put posting off till weeks pass and I’m too swamped to even get anything out. My friend Dhebbie and my other blogger friends are doing a 30 day blogging challenge. I decided to take part because, this means I can post more and liven up this place again.

So yea, its day 1 and I decided to make today all about my currents. I saw one of my favorite bloggers , Cindy post a currents post. This is basically a post on what you are currently enjoying, reading, drinking etc. Because this space is all booky(I’m making this a word haha #sorrynotsorry) I decided to put a little twist to my currents post. Mine will be strictly about books. Exciting right? I know. ๐Ÿ˜ƒ

So here it goes.

Currently….

reading- The Violent Gestures of Life by Tshifhiwa Given Mukwevho.ย

IMG_20160720_222825.jpgso I won this book last month. The most exciting thing about getting this book other than winning it of course(I won it from a booklovers group I’m in.) Is the fact that its a signed copy, this is a fact I keep mentioning to EVERYONE haha. Also, its an amazing read. I’m left with a few chapters and if it wasn’t for school work and exams and deadlines I would have been long done with it. I can’t wait to review it here. Thanks Tshifhiwa ๐Ÿ˜ƒ

Okay before I go on with this one. Let me put it out there to the universe (and you guys). If you would love to buy me this book then please do. Okay, I hope the universe(and you guys are reading this *winks*). I’m in these two cool book clubs on Facebook. Everyone has been raving on and on about this book and so I want to get in on the excitement too. I have read a few interviews with the amazing Yaa and she seems like a pretty dope human. Also, Esther I know you are reading this, please get me a signed copy of this book at Writivism. Okay thanks bye. ๐Ÿ˜‚

ย Raving about…

Remember the two books clubs I’m in ? (The Good Book Appreciation Society and The Wordiest Bond Book Club if you guys want to join) well there’s this book by Unathi Magubeni. It’s his debut novel, titled Nwelezanga, The Star Child. I’m excited about this book because I really love the stories behind writer’s come ups. Unathi is an inspiration and I can’t wait to read a copy. Also, universe, *wink wink*.

CRYING for…

Okay, let’s get this out there now. Because I know the universe reads my blog and listens to me. This part is going to be emotional,more for me than you guys I suppose. But I suppose if we are together in this strugglingbookworm thing then you guys will understand my cries. My to read list is long and its actually quite sad how I add new titles to it every single day. At the top of my list right now is;

1.Under the Udala trees by Chinelo

2. The Book of Memory by Pettina Gappah

3. Ben Okri’s The Famished Road

4.Tram 83 by Fiston Mwanza Mujila

5. Lauri Kubuetsile’s The Scattering

Can I also put it out there that im crying that im missing Writivism again. I hope next year is the year I can attend and be in book heaven. I hope everyone who’s going has a ball.

Last year, I met (Okay cyber met), Michael Howard. He’s a South African writer whom I adore. He just started his Blog and I look forward to his posts every day. Last week he messaged me asking for my address because he wants to send me a copy of his new book. (Yaaaay me-guys the universe does listen you see?). I am excited about getting my hands on it. You guys can get a copy of the ebook for kindle onย Amazon.

That’s it, for now. I hope you guys enjoy this and help me nag the universe for all these new reads.

Hope everyone has a pleasant night.

Lots of love

Mido
